Azabu Sabo

Nice place to introduce you guys to dine again!

Today, we went Azabu Sabo for dinner (he says go there eat already can sabo people -_-'").

Anyway, the dinner was satisfying.

I thought that place only specialize in ice cream and various jap desserts, but their main course was impressive as well.

Alot of people buy ice cream off the counter, but the restaurant was quite quiet. Only a few tables were occupied.

The nice menu.

The interior. I think it looks pretty high-class. With the lighting effects and the glass partition

The cute chair. So oriental

Nice cups. Chi-na style

Cant decide what to eat. So many nice food

I ordered this. Its Udon in Minced Beef Tomato sauce. It has some japanese name in the menu which i cannot remember. Maybe wanwei can do a better job, right wan wan?

Upclose photo on it. Its very tasty. It look more like kway teow to me. Thick kway teow.

His order: Beef Patty with cheese topped with Beef Curry Sauce.

Upclose photo. Its very tasty too!! Though the beef patty was well cooked (no blood), it wasnt dry. And its very "smooth", as in the meat was finely minced. The curry was uber nice. Not too overpowering, not too sweet.

We tried another ice cream flavour. Green Tea Red Bean Ice Cream.
I think it tasted much better than the Sea Salt Caramel one that I tried the previous time.

We saw this freen tea sweet selling in the restaurant. Looks normal, but we were blown away by its bitter sweet taste.

Yummy~~~~

Satisfying meal = Satisfying people

The end of another satisfying meal. I wont mind going back for a second time. Anybody?

S/U Options

Hi guys, this is the reply from Mr Troy.

Q: Is S/U option cumulative? Eg. if i did not use my option for any of my modules in the 2nd year, will i be able to use 2 s/u options in my 3rd year, namely in the 1st and 2nd semester? There have been a lot of views. Some says that its cumulative, some says that once i "missed" it, i cant accumulate it to use at a later time.

A:
If you do not utilise your AUs for S/U option this time, you can always keep it for the next semester or the next year. In other words, you CAN keep it for later use. But you can only have a maximum of 12 AUs for S/U option.

Hope this helps.

Food.

I am having term break right now, but nothing has been done.
Procrastinating every single day.

Random.

Sudden sugar rush. Bought a brownie from Canteen B Western Food Stall. It turns out to be NICE, i quickly gobbled the whole piece (which explains the "empty" picture). I think this is the only food worth buying/trying from that stall.

There is this guy from the entrepreneurship club who walks around canteen B with a basket of Cornetto ice-cream on Fri. Its some promo thingy from the club. We got 2 cones for free! great~

On another occasion, he and I went Marina Sq for dinner. Walked past this Hokkaido ice cream stall. The familiar one which we know, green and white words, get it?

We tried their new flavour- Sea Salt and Caramel. Sounds weird, but tasted not too bad. Worth trying.

The 80's

I read this in Wendy's blog and find it super funny!!!!!
She copied this from some group in Facebook.

You would remember:

You grew up watching He-man, MASK, Transformers, Silver Hawk and Mickey Mouse, Ninja turtles, Carebears, Robocop, My Little Pony and Smurfs.

You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in Primary school during recess time. You would squat by a drain with all your classmates beside you, and brush your teeth with a coloured mug.

You hated or loved the school nurse

You know what SBC stands for.

You paid 40 cents for cartons of Chocolate or Strawberry milk every week in class.(Wendy:And the noodles in the tuckshop was just 10 cents or 20 cents. 50cents for big big bowl with generous ingredients and noodles!)

Everyone's wallet used to be the velcro type

It was cool to have pagers in primary school

SBS buses used to be non-airconditioned. The bus seats are made of wood and the cushionwere red. The big red bell gave a loud BEEP! when pressed.

There were still bus tickets and bus conductors would come up to check them.

Envelopes were given to us to donate to Sharity Elephant every Children's Day.

You've probably read Young Generation magazine. You know who's Vinny the little vampire and Acai the constable.

You know what PETS are and the hidden animals in all the text pages.

You hated penmanship.Writing lines and caning hands were common, esp if you failed chinese spelling

You were there when they first introduced the MRT here. You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

Movie tickets used to cost only $3.50.Gals were fascinated by Strawberry Short Cake and Barbie Dolls.

You learn to laugh like The Count in Sesame Street.

You bought tidbits called beebee and mamee (all cheap cheap), that had a different sticker in it every time.

You carried a lunch box to school but either threw away the food or brought it back home again.

You watched TV2 cartoons because Channel 5 never had enough cartoons for you.

Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Three Investigators, Famous Five and Secret Seven were probably the thickest story books you thought you would ever read.

KFC used to be a high class restaurant that served food in plates and had metal forks and knives.

The most vulgar thing you said was asshole and idiot and THE MOST EXTREME WAS 'chicken pie'...you just couldn't bring yourself to say the hokkien translation.

Catching and pepsi-cola was the IN thing, and twist was the magic word.

Your English workbooks were made of some damn poor quality paper that was smooth and yellow.

You came to school 15 mins before the bell every morning just so you could copy someone's homework.

CDIS was your best friend.

The only computer lessons in school involved funny pixellized characters in 16 colours walking about trying to teach you math.

Waterbottles were slung around your neck and a must everywhere you went.

Boys loved to play soccer with small stones or tennis balls in the basketball court.Girls played five stones and boys played with marbles.

Science was fun with the Balsam and the Angsana being the most important plants of our lives, guppies and swordtail being the most important fishes.

Who can forget Ahmad, Bala, Sumei and John, immortalized in our minds from school textbooks.(Wendy: xiao hua, xiao ming from the chinese textbook too!)

We conducted experiments of our own to get badges for being a Young Zoologist/Botanist etc.

Every Children's day and National day you either got pins or pens with 'Happy Children's Day 1993' or useless plastic files with 'Happy National Day 1994'.

You wore BM2000, BATA, or Pallas shoes.

Your form teacher taught you Maths, Science and English. You went to school in slippers and a raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school to sit down, dry your feet, and wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

There would be spelling tests and mental sums to do almost everyday

Your friends considered you lucky and rich if your parents gave you $2 or more for pocket mone everyday.

You saw Wee Kim Wee's face in the school hall.Boys liked catching fighting spiders, earthworms or tadpoles.Collecting and battling erasers was a pastime for boys.

Class monitors and prefects loved to say, "You talk somemore, I write your name ah!"

You got booked for muddy shoes in class.

There were at least 40 people in one class.

You brought every single book to school, even though there was a timetable.

There was a pro-yo/bumblebee, digimon craze at some point in time.

Nokia

Hey peeps! Those we are using Nokia handphone must check this out.

The current battery in your hp may be dangerous. Just to play safe, do a check.

I sent in my request to exchange for a new battery about a week ago and they DHL the package to me on Mon. Quite effiicient.

Knock knock, is Miss Yvonne in.

The new battery, must send the old battery back to Nokia. I thought so good, give us another FREE battery.

Another day of shopping

Last wed, Sarah and I went shopping again.
Nope, we didnt skipped lessons to go shopping, we went after lessons this time.

We started off at Liat Towers as we wanted to go ZARA to see if they have nice and cheap stuff, sadly there was none. Then we proceed on downwards towards Wisma for Topshop, Esprit, Mango and Isetan. Taka for pull and bear etc.

Digress...

Got a top from mango, hoping that D24 wont find out coz he says that i have a hundred and one similar tank tops except they come in different colours. But the price was too hard to resist! So i gave in to temptation and bought it. Eventually he still finds out, but he commented that the colour was nice. A relieve though.

It was at Taka that we saw the moon cake fair at the central function area. I wanted to buy some so we went in to take a look. Oh, did i mention that we were actually quite hungry already, we wanted to get the moon cake fast and quickly get out of the place to have our dinner at Meridian.

We looked around, there were so many different brands of moon cake. Ranging from Raffles Hotel to Shangri-La to Tong Lok to Goodwood Park and many others. Each offering us to try their moon cakes by displaying small pieces of different flavoured moon cakes in plastic containers in front of their counter. Of course must try right, else we wont know which one taste better. I like the "snow skin" durian moon cake the best, but all others were nice too!!!!!

I think we spent around an hour "touring" inside. I finally bought my moon cake and we were also very full from trying all the samples. Sarah bought her 4 "snow skin" mini moon cakes that were pathetically packed in a big plastic box (which later her mom tried and said that they suck) and I bought 2 white lotus moon cake. Nevertheless, we tried countless other kinds of moon cake!*contented*

We proceeded on to Meridian to have our dinner because Sarah always wanted to try the nice Thai noodles that i introduced her the other time.
We found out that we didnt have enough money!! Our pooled resources was only $12.10. There were so many things that we wanted to try, like Korean hotplate, korean kimci soup, tom yam etc etc. But we can only afford to eat the $4.50 thai noodles.

After dinner, Sarah suggested going Timbre since we are near. I agreed.

She didnt know her way! She kept on saying " i think its here lah, should be, ya.. should be" we walked around SMU, luckily we found the place. It just at the old National Library beside the museum. Follow your ears, you will hear nice music.

Its a nice place. Should go, there's live band performance. I think its all local band. So support local music, go TIMBRE! cheers~

Sarah's Heineken and my pint ("pine") of Kilkenny.

Tuesday, September 11

Pop Doh...

Sarah was telling me how nice this cheese custard donut was from Pop Doh.

Being a sucker for new things (aka greedy/ tiam jia), i decided to try it out when i was in town last weekend.

I bought 4 different flavours. White Chocolate Strawberry, Strawberry Chocolate, Cinnamon and the much talked about Cheese Custard.

I have to admit that the plastic bag is very pretty.

My all time favourite: Cinnamon

I tried this way back when i was in poly. It cost me only 90 cents back then, but now, its $1.40!!! *I being to talk like an old woman* I think the standard has dropped, somehow, it tasted better last time. Or do i have higher expectations now??

Cheese Custard Donut.

I think its ok only. Not really very nice. I think the donut is too big, too much filling inside. After you finish eating you will feel very "jerlut".

I didnt take picture for the other 2. The White Chocolate Strawberry was ok only. Somehow the chocolate coating and the donut doesnt taste very well together (i think Donut Factory taste better in that aspect) it tasted very oily, like too much butter.

I didnt try the Strawberry Chocolate coz i gave it to D24. He said that it wasnt nice too. Maybe we should toast it next time before eating. Maybe it will taste better.

Again...

I skipped another lecture again today.

It was CS815, some boring comm studies lecture which i am almost 100% sure that i will s/u it unless i get to see the exam paper the week before my exams.

Usually, the reasons for skipping lectures are:

1) because its too boring;
2)your "shun you" ask you to go shopping;
3)you are sick of canteen food and you want to eat out;
4)your friends were telling you about this super nice ice-cream somewhere out there;
5)you just want to get out of school, or,
6)all of the above.

I am guilty, but i had to admit that its all of the above.

Sarah, my "shun you " (i am hers too) and i went IMM.

She had lunch there, at some Spagetties wanna-be restaurant, SpagettiToo.
I dont know if it was really a sister company or otherwise, but i doubt so.

Sarah's Chicken Sausage Baked Rice.

I think this was the worst baked rice she had ever tasted (according to her).
I didnt try, so no comments. Luckily it was only $5.90. She said she would have flipped the table if it was more expensive -_-'"

Then we saw this cute little thing that looks like egg tart.
Instead of the shallow crust, this was quite tall, like a mini cupcake.
Wow, so many flavours to choose from, excited - we were!

Plain white box with orange words imprinted on it - Fancy Delight.
But its not fancy at all, so plain. (lame)

We tried:
Taiwan Original,
Melting Chocolate,
Apple & Cinnimon,
Chicken & Mushroom.

It wasnt really nice. Abit too bland. Filling were also abit too little.
eg, the Chicken & Mushroom tart had only some bits and pieces of mushroom/chicken, disappointing.
I prefer egg tarts to these, preferably Portuguese Egg Tarts *yummmmm.
Abit pricy too, $1.20 each.

In the end, we didnt eat the ice cream as we were too full. Shall try it next time.

By the way, Sarah bought another pair of 3/4 pants *shakes head*.
Look who is the "shun you" here. sigh...

Airbus A380

Have you guys heard about the hu-ha of Airbus A380? I saw something interesting online today. Singapore Airlines is auctioning seats in ebay on this new flight- A380. Prices go as high as close to $3000 (not sure if its S$ or US$) for 2 economy class window seat. *woot.

They will be the first to enjoy new standards in comfort and luxury in all the three classes.
It seems to me that this A380 from Airbus is a competitor to the Boeing company. And A380 use Rolls Royce engine leh, dont play play. It is also the biggest plane ever.

quote "Although the lower deck will be reserved primarily for cargo, it could be outfitted for special passenger uses such as sleeper cabins, business centers or even child care service"

Child care services??!!!! So funny right, will the pretty SQ girl be changing nappies for the babies? Or feeding milk to infants? i cant imagine.

Read more about this A380 plane here.

I really like Singapore Airlines' web site. They are so innovative.
Click here to see what i mean.

Repost: Switzerland

" I posted this again because i think the pictures cant load for the previous post"

Its finally done.

Switzerland is fun!!!!! The weather is great (even though it was summer).
It was a very good experience because i didnt expect myself to be there either. I have to thank my aunt for sponsoring me.

Over at Switzerland, temp ranges from 10 degree to 20 degree.
Weather over at the other side of the earth fluctuates terribly.
I count myself lucky. On the day i left, temp shot up to 20+ degree and it continued onto 30+ degree.

Things there are generally expensive. Especially food!!!! We were like peasants over there. And i tell you, my mum and aunt almost cry coz they cant get to eat rice (haha, i exaggerated).

We eat bread everyday and for every meal. Eat until feel like puking. After you have tasted their food, you will appreciate Asian food more, serious. The way they cook is like as though they did not put in effort, just toss in sauce or bake/fried/poach with a bit of seasonings.
Nevertheless, there are exceptions. Some "ang moh" food is nice.

Our itinerary is pack. I was there for 1 week and we travelled to several places. Namely: Zurich, Zermatt, Luzern, Lausanne and Bern. *wooooot. Its like touch 'n' go for every place. Try to cover as many places as we can.

Even though all these places are in Switzerland, they certainly have different culture and they speak different languages! Some speak Swiss-German, some speak French. So whenever we arrived at a new place, we will observe what the natives speak. It will quite embarrassing if you are in a French speaking place and you greet people with "Morgan" (Morning in Swiss-German).

nice nice plan food. SQ is really worth the money la. The food and the service is good. You get what you pay. (that is when you have money to take SQ, because its bloody expensive. I doubt I have to work very hard myself to earn lotsa money)

Zurich

This is the best hotel I have stayed among the many. This small hotel took us more than 30 mins to find. A kind old man told us a long way, make us walk 1 big circle.

He says, "you see the street in front? ok, walk straight, then turn left 20 degree, walk for 100m then turn right 15 degree". like duhhhhh...

After we reached the hotel room, we had a quick wash-up and off we go. I was amazed by my mum. She is still so chirpy and energetic. I thought she will be tired after the long flight.

my mum and aunt trying to act artistic.

this is one great man. Founder of Credit Suisse. In those days, you are seen as a clever man if you can make money with money. The banking sector is one of the strongest and thriving sector in Switzerland. So it kind of made him the fore-father.

Some nice Church, in fact, all churches are nice. I think its because of the weather that creates this wow wow feeling.

Their "twin tower"? I am not sure, just kidding.

My mum and aunt taking a "act natural" pic. They are good posers.

I think this is some residential building. It looks like castle right. Dont know what those people thinking. Try to act royal ah. ahaha

errrrmmmm... my mum. (poly friends, yes, she is my dancing mum)

i like this picture the most. I take one ma. So nice right.

In Zurich, they travel in trams. Its like bus la, but it has got the electric wire on top. Like HK.

This is a picture of a random street in the city.

They are having some carnival when i went, its like S'pore Pasar Malam, just that they dont sell Taiwan Pork Sausages, Muah Chee and stuff. They sell Pretzels, Brautwrust etc.

This machine allows you to buy tickets anyway. They will have 1 at almost every major bus stop. But the weird thing is, unlike Spore, you dont have to tap the card or let anyone check and they still buy lo. very honest. if spore is like that, i will SBSTransit will close shop.

THIS IS SUPER NICE CAN!!!!!!! Its really expensive, hand made. I bought this in the air port. Its like more than S$10 for less than 100g. But the nut is very crunchy and chocolate is very thick and smooth, so its very nice. I like the bitter chocolate.

Bread, you will see this on every street. See already also scared.

This is an interesting dish. They cut up the octopus, drizzle it with olive oil, chilli ppwder and some black vinegar. Eaten with bread also. Never try this before in Spore. Something new, and its nice!!

Their version of satay.

Their train station terminal in Zurich. Nice hor, like museum sia. really ah, their building nice never mind, even the people there also very shuai and pretty.

An example to support my point:
There was once i went to the toilet, then i saw someone washing the toilet. In Spore, it must be some old auntie right. Its different there. I saw the person's back view first, very tall and thin. Then she lift up her head and turn to me. I got the shock of my life. She is damn chio can!!!!! Like model, no kidding!!!! Blue eyes, nice skin, blonde hair, tall and slender. Wa..... i almost fainted. Even my mother also stunned. hahahaha..

If she were to come Spore, she can easily be a model and people's head turn wherever she walks.

Its one whole piece/block of cow okay! The meat looks dry. hohohoho

My mum die die want to take this corn. She say its very cute... Her infamous "lao da" pose. ahahah.

Digress...

Its was ard 9 plus 10pm when we took this photo. Its still damn bright! So while we were there, we dont have much of a chance to see the dark blue sky, not to even mention the stars.

Zermatt
We are changing train in Brig. Brig is a super small town. I think thats about it. Its usually for trekkers who wants to climb the nearby mountains. It looks sunny, but the wind is cold

ok, u see this. We will go wa!!! nice, quickly take picture. But to them, this is so-so only la. they have lots of these snow capped mountains there. This is considered ugly.

My mum is bored and she tries to pose.

Zermatt's main transportation means. No cars allowed in Zermatt. Breathe hard, fresh air.

The famous Matterhorn. Toblerone, the famous chocolate we eat takes up the shape of Matterhorn.

Tap water are not suitable for drinking in Switzerland. But they have spring water. Refreshing, but i still prefer Singapore drinking water, the spring water has a vertain "siap siap" aftertaste.

my mum, its either she tries to act cold, or act sweet. hahhaha

The rolex shop. Prices are comparable to Singapore. Its not alot cheaper.

hello bear.

The famous mountain- Matterhorn.
I also dont understand why is it famous. Doesnt all mountains look the same??

Nice weather there!!

Took this picture from a local confectionary. I dont think that can be eaten, it looks rather hard.

The place we stay in. Its very nice. This can be an ideal place to retire. Provided you can do without shopping, movies and high class food. In Zermatt, you can only climb mountians and surf the internet. Nothing much to do in this small village.

The view from the balcony in our room.

My "shu nui" mum.

The residential houses in Zermatt. It looks so fake.

On the streets. The whole of Zermatt looks the same, its just like this. I can finish touring Zermatt maybe in 2 hours.

the ice cream is nice! nope, its not Moven Pick, its just some road side stall, but its sill nice.

my aunt and i enjoying it

Laussane

our hotel

Nice buildings.

The Rolex Building? I got this shot from afar, didnt go upclose.

Laussane train station. They have got an Olympic Musuem in Laussane. Too bad, i didnt go cause we cant find our way.

Luzern

The famous Chapel Bridge.

i likessss this picture

I intend to take the swan, but my mum slipped into the picture silently, so bo bian. =)

Breadman with a friendly girl.

Its really different to eat ice cream on a cold day. grrrrrr..

The Lion Monument. Read the story.

I dont understand why my aunt wants to take photo with a mannequin. Overseas one more proportionate??

my mum is excited when she saw the harp.

road signs

friendly staff

His business. These taste darn nice!! They have curry flavour too. didnt know they were into Bollywood. haha!

freezing cooooold. one of the coldest days there and we didnt wear enough clothes.

i was too bored in the park, so i asked my mum to take this for me. She praised herself for the well-taken picture.

I asked her to try. This was the best. ahahha

So she offered to give me another pose. -_-'"

Bern

Holy Church in Bern. Nice fountain, nice backdrop.

The streets in Bern

This is where Albert Einstein stays.

The service at this place was bad. We didnt know that we have to pay to enter. The cashier is at the 2nd level. It looks just one of his any other rooms. So we skipped it coz the 3rd level seems more interesting. As we were on our way up, we heard a woman shouting out "you have to pay", so we turned back. Behind us was this Japanese lady we dont really understand english, was mumbling something and the woman didnt even care and snatch the brochure back from her hand.

So rude right. terrible lo.
I think they discriminate Asian la. Looking back, how i wished i had ticked her off.

nono, not ask you to buy 4D or toto. The car plate is interesting. Looking at the 2 flags on top. One is the Switzerland national flag, the other is the state flag, which in this case is Bern. So cute right.

One of my uni ah siows then commented, "wa, then spore cars should also have this la. Then can put Spore and Hougang flag." ........ i shant revele her name la okay.

Nice scenery.

We went to this restaurant which brew its own beer. Wanted to try how different it is. So we ordered this. 3 small cups, (its not as big as it looks in the picture) and try. Nice leh. Not like Tiger Beer so bitter.

We ordered this Pork dish to share. Yummmm... the sauce and meat goes very well and the pork is tender. Its doesnt taste porky.

This is veal cooked in brown sauce with mushroom and rosti. Veryyyyy nice!!!!! We seldom get to eat veal in Spore. Its very tender, as comapred to beef. It taste abit like chicken but its more rich. Rosti is nice too. Abit softer than those sold in Marche.

The brewing thing in the restaurant.

X-Large chess. So big still got people play lo. Like so pai seh..

Their mobile market. Sells lots of things, berries, vegetables dried food etc. They sell almost everything except meat. I think it may be due to hygiene problem ba.

Thats my mum and aunt. They look so happy that they get to eat rice. They are so deprived of chinese food. It doesnt come at a cheap price. These food here cost close to CHF30 (approx S$50).

The Casino. It also look like some musuem right.

Then it was the last day already, so we decided to visit a nice restaurant to conclude our trip and to spend our cash.

We chose this Alfreso style dining resturant, frankly, every restaurant is like that over there.
Ironically, the outdoor seats are more expensive then the indoor ones. Partly because you get to people watch i think. But its cooooold sitting outside!

my mum

notice the nice dining area outside. I think their weather is very nice for alfresco dining, its very cooling. Not so much for Singapore, its so warm and humid.

the waitress. she is very nice and helpful. even though she cant really speak perfect english, she still tried her best to explain whats on the menu.

Sparkling Water bottle also so nice.

Nice bread. Soft and warm. Perfect for a chilly night.

Grilled Vegetables

Lamp dish. Personally i dont like it because of the taste, but my mum and aunt said that it was nice.

Grilled Fish with lots of spinach. Average standard.

Seafood Pasta. I like this the best.

Baked Potatos, it comes with every main dish.
I think this was nice too. Simple yet tasty.

it was 10pm and its still rather bright.

And this concludes my summary about my trip to Switzerland.
It was such a nice experience that i will never forget.

I want to go to other European countries!!!!!!!
